Welcome to Delaware Digs

In 2023 the field school performed a dig on the Indigenous site. The site was discovered years ago but no detailed work had been done on it.  As part of the dig samples were taken and carbon dated back to over 4000 years ago.    See the whole story below

In 2024 the Compressor House was the focus of the field school  It is located just south of Delaware Mine Road.  This was the main compressor for the 1880's work that was being done on the Conglomerate Mine

In 2025 the program came out with the intent to dig on the sites Blacksmith shop.  As excavation began it became apparent that what they had found was not a Blacksmith shop but something completely different.

The Blacksmith shop was shown on an 1880's map and was supposed to be the primary site for the 2025 digs.  After getting off to a slow start the site was ultimately located and exploration began
