It snowed and snowed and snowed

Have you ever thought what a large snow fall would look like? Delaware is the snow capital of the Midwest, at least that is what the sign on the road says. This year over 360" of snow fell up here in the Keweenaw. Throughout the season we would check in remotely with the cameras on site to see how things progressed. At one point the snow drifts got so big you could not see the roof of the house.

All this was great until we got a call from one of our workers who told us the roof in the gift shop had collapsed. We were very lucky because we had another display just below the solid 8" x 8" beam and it did not cave in all the way. But now we realized we had more snow accumulating than the roofs could handle and we needed to act fast. Did you know there are professional roof shoveling companies? We did not but luckily Kevin did. These folks run all over the Keweenaw in the winter lugging snow blowers and shovels up on peoples roofs to clear them off. The crew at Karp's Snow Removal got out to us very quick saving us from more damage.

Some of the pictures show the grounds and the snow build up. When they went to shovel off the house all they had to do was walk up the snow drift on the back of the garage. No ladders were needed. They had to dig down 8' to get at the doors for a few of the buildings which made things interesting
