Upgrades abound

We have been very busy at the mine this summer. When we opened in the spring we set out to update the overall experience for everyone. A key part of that was an upgrade to all the signage on site. We started with all the underground signage and then moved above. The signage helps interpret the features of the site and share the history of the mine.

One of our fun projects was to create an overall site map of what the town looked like back in the 1800's As we worked through that we found allot of information at the MTU achieves and we were able to stitch together a site map and images of how things looked. It was really interesting to research buildings and images and then find a way to share that with visitors.

The gift shop got a face lift and some extra space. We moved out the train layout and were able to better accommodate all the guests during the busy days. We upgraded the lighting to make it more period and we also refreshed the merchandise that we offer for sale.

Underground we also updated the lighting. We wanted to make it easier for everyone to see the unique elements of the mine without the need to carry around a flash light. This is a process and we will still have some additions later this fall.

We want to thank everyone who has visited this past summer for your support. We hope you come back and visit us again whenever you are in the area. We are open through October 13th so don't miss the fall colors.
